Reflection on Being a Group Leader Taking on the role of a group leader for the theme presentations was exciting and a bit overwhelming. At first, I didn’t think it would be too difficult, I figured I would just listen to the presentations and provide a conclusion. However, as things progressed, I realized it was more challenging than I had expected. Each group presented on important topics like sustainability, civic engagement, arts and culture, community well-being, and social innovation. My job was to wrap up each presentation in a way that made their key points stand out. That meant I had to listen carefully, take notes, and come up with a strong final statement for each topic. While there were definitely some challenges, I gained valuable experience in leadership, organization, and public speaking. Taking on the Role of the Closer Since my partner Arantza was responsible for introducing each group, I had the task of delivering the conclusions. This wasn’t just about summariz...

Theme Project 2 Reflection Arantza Alfaro

Reflection on Being a Group Leader for the Theme Presentations So, the theme presentations are finally over, and I’ve had some time to reflect on everything. Honestly, being the group leader for these presentations was a mixed bag of emotions: exciting, challenging, and rewarding all at the same time. The topics we covered: environment and sustainability, civic engagement, arts and culture, community well-being, and social innovation; were all super interesting, and I really enjoyed the process. However, like with anything, there were some ups and downs along the way. Getting Ready for the Presentations One of the first things I was assigned to do was introduce each group. At first, I thought, “Okay, this should be easy,” but the more I got into it, the more I realized how important those introductions were. I wasn’t just giving a basic greeting, I was setting the stage for what was to come. So, I spent some time researching each topic and finding quotes to make the introducti...

Project 1 Blog

Being a group leader for this public speaking project was both challenging and rewarding. Leading and working with different groups required strong communication, organization, and patience. Each group had its strengths and challenges, and collaborating with the other group leader made the entire process smoother. Together, we navigated various obstacles, encouraged participation, and ensured that each group was prepared and confident in its presentations. This experience not only strengthened my leadership skills but also helped me understand the importance of teamwork and adaptability. Group 1 was the first team I worked with, and they were responsible for presenting key foundational concepts of public speaking. Initially, they faced some challenges in organizing their ideas and dividing responsibilities. Some members were hesitant to take on speaking roles, while others were more confident but struggled with structuring their content. As a leader, I helped guide them by su...

Project 1 Reflection Arantza Alfaro

Reflection on My Experience as a Class Leader in Project 1 Throughout my time as a class leader, I gained not only valuable insight into public speaking itself but also the behind-the-scenes workings of organizing and leading a class. This role was rewarding, and engaging. It taught me much about leadership, communication, and collaboration. In this reflection, I will share my experiences, the challenges I faced, and the lessons I learned during the process. When the professor first asked to be a class leader I didn't hesitate to offer. I have vast experience in leadership (I was the vice president of my school's student government) and I thought I could do it, but I was both excited and nervous as well because school and college are very different. I was aware that the role would involve assisting classmates with questions and taking attendance, but I quickly realized it was much more than that. As a leader, I was not only responsible for keeping the class on track but also fo...
